What I Am Noticing
I was tested this month in a harsh sort of way. A neighbor who struggles with mental health issues threatened to harm me one evening. The threats necessitated law enforcement. The local PD was impressive and swift in addressing my safety. Despite the neighbor screaming threats outside my house and attempting damage to my car, not ONE of my neighbors came out of their home to check on me. Not ONE. This gutted me. All I needed was a small gesture of concern.
It was very challenging for me not to conclude from this lack of response that this was a reflection of me. Instead, it was a clear indication of the capacity that many people have around offering concern for others.
Where We Are Headed Collectively
My experience this month is a commentary on the collective. There is an intense energy swirling around the globe that can overwhelm and open the collective to make different choices. It's very heartening to observe a group of people collaborate to support one another without any one person needing all the glory. It's one of the things that humans do best when they can see and feel the benefit of collective harmony. Whether or not we share the same beliefs and understandings will soon become irrelevant. It will be overtly apparent how each of us contributes and no one person holds the answers. This is the beginning of human potential evolving in a way that requires individual sovereignty in order to tolerate collective harmony.
