What I Am Noticing

I have needed more sleep than I would prefer this past month. Whether it is the traditional sleep cycle or naps during the day, my body has been craving rest. My thought patterns rarely align with my body's needs. I tell myself things that aren't necessarily accurate or true like, "Come on, Indira, just go workout, you will feel better once you start." Most people would say that's good inner dialogue. Of course, this is highly circumstantial but when my body clearly indicates it needs to rest and I override its messaging, alignment is lost. Even though we are moving into the active energies of spring, calibrating with your body sustains your energy, making you more available for the activities you choose without sacrificing your health.

Where We Are Headed Collectively

The collective obsession with speed and activity has never really made sense to me. It's almost as if the ability to notice and observe is considered pathological. Our culture specifically is in desperate need of slowing the pace to focus on what is, versus what can be achieved at a fundamental cost to our species. This is the root of our engagement in war and other atrocities. The sensing of what it is to be human is relinquished to monks, ascetics, and philosophers when it is a fundamental aspect of being human. Our incarnation into physical form is something we can all agree requires basic care and attunement. Are you willing to return to the body's signals at least occasionally? If so, you are a big part of the solution.
